Empower Poor landless Farmers Through Organic Vegetable Production

I am Tansi Godwill Tansi.a development professional passionate about finding sustainable- solutions to tackle problems faced by the underprivileged- rural and environmentally- delicate communities in Cameroon. My passion for this drive led me to read and acquire a Master’s Degree in Natural Resources and Environmental Management from the University of Buea, worked for over 7 years with the grassroots and founded ECoDAs. During my experience, I developed understanding and feel attached to the problems these communities face. It is thus my goal to work towards a planet in which sustainable development is inclusive; that is not leaving any community or people behind.

The project is for 30 landless, marginal and poor farmers in Bana village. This fundraising is important because these people have limited financial capacity and lack heritage rights to acquire more than one hectare of agricultural land. They are also faced with financial difficulty to purchase inputs and limited knowledge and skills on smart agriculture. Many of these farmers have also lost interest in farming for commercial purposes due to poor yields, post-harvest challenges and lack of access to favorable market conditions. Thus, I have chosen them as they are the most vulnerable group in the project area and have been ignored.

The money shall be used to mobilize 30 landless farmers into a Producer Association and trained on agroforestry, composting, group governance, bookkeeping, savings and marketing. The beneficiaries shall then be supported with farm inputs and equipment. In addition, one Farmer Field School will be set up to serve as a practical learning-cum-demonstration centre for farmers. They shall be linked to input suppliers and vegetable buyers. A scheme for community-based agroforestry tree nurseries as well as assistance for farmers to plant trees on their farms will be set up as well.

The money is needed by July 2019 and appreciate donations of 1000 US Dollars.
