C.H.A.M.P Inc. is a 501-C3 non-profit organization serving the Greater Bridgeport Area and beyond. Founded in 2014, we offer mentoring program for at-risk youth, ages 9 to 18 and provide additional supports to families in need of assistance.

Our mission is to create a culture of change for at-risk youth by developing relationship between families and community through the promotion of; education, positive social interactions and character development. We emphasize the importance of education and changing the mindset of youth who possess delinquent values, so that they can become productive students, children and members of society.

C.H.A.M.P, understands the challenges and barriers that Bridgeport youth and families face every day and has carefully designed and implemented various programs and activities to benefit the Bridgeport community.

There is a need for mentoring and family support in the Greater Bridgeport Area. Connecticut is one of the wealthiest states in America. Some state's highest concentration of wealth can be found in the Fairfield County. What also can be found in the county is the city of Bridgeport which is one of the poorest cities in the county. With nearly 40 percent of children and 17 percent of families living below the poverty line, many community members are faced with delimitating family experience that negatively impact the lives of children. Families are challenged with incapacitating circumstances such as; poverty, violence and lack of education.

Many youth display high levels of behavioral problems stemming to parental abuse, neglect, instability, poverty and/or death. These challenges may impact and result in them engaging in delinquent behaviors, experiencing teen pregnancy, or dropping out of high school. Loss of loved ones to incarceration, substance abuse and senseless homicides often results in unresolved grief. When grief is overlooked, a sense of hopelessness and loss of meaning in life often prevails, negatively impacting the lives of children and their families.

C.H.A.M.P is committed to touching the lives of at-risk youth and families residing throughout the city of Bridgeport and surrounding areas. With many families in crisis, CHAMP offers a critical strategy for improving the lives of young people to boost their social development, academic achievement, and opportunity for long-term success. In an effort to close the gap and guide more youth on a pathway to success, we also provide mentoring and parental support opportunities to parents and caregivers.

C.H.A.M.P participates in weekend field trips to places such as Washington D.C., day trips to New York City, Springfield MA, and local sites to create educational experiences. Your financial contributions will afford us the opportunity to continue our weekly and monthly programs such as; our afterschool programs, our "Truth Experience" group mentoring program specifically designed to help grandparent and the children they are raising. This program is in partnership with Child Guidance Center. You will also help fund our monthly gender specific groups, Boys/Girls Reality Empowerment Circle a partnership with Center for Family Justice. Your financial contribution will help us to continue providing our seasonal festivities for the youth and their families in our program and the community at large. Additionally, your contribution will help CHAMP in having the financial means to be supportive with some of participants basic needs.
