12/06/2016Unfortunately, this is an issue of concern that needs to be addressed. Merkaz helped my kids be prepared for issues on campus, and continues to prepare today's youth.

12/05/2016Merkaz was a great place in high school to get to know Jewish kids in the area and take interesting classes. One of my favorite classes was with Rabbi Brodie about issues I would face in college. Merkaz is definitely a special and important program!

Merkaz Community High School in Bridgeport, CT, serves Jewish teens from throughout eastern Fairfield County. A pluralistic program that supplements their regular high school academics, Merkaz attracts nearly 200 committed students from a variety of towns, synagogues and schools who join together weekly to learn, socialize, explore and strengthen their ties to Judaism.
With the alarming rise and seeming acceptance of anti-semitic and anti-zionistic activities currently taking place on college campuses throughout our country, arming our students with facts and resources to prepare them for this new reality has never been more vital. As we develop and implement a curriculum that includes tools and practices designed to effectively prepare students for the range of experiences they may encounter when they venture off to college, we hope to incorporate classroom materials, guest speakers, faculty led trips and campus visits.
Merkaz, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, is embarking on this campaign to raise $7500 for our current school year. The administrators, teachers and volunteers at Merkaz are deeply appreciative of any and all financial support from generous and concerned donors near and far.
