I'm a high school counselor who quit his job to begin launching a private year-round, non-residential alternative school program for teens grades 9-12 in Minnesota who have exited formal treatment or out-patient for opiode-related disorders and fear returning to their home campus where the odds of relapsing are ten times greater than the opportunities to remain sober. Last semester six teens overdosed on opiode-related substances and sadly, two died. Currently in Minnesota there are over 2100 youths exiting residential treatment programs and no year-round blend of recovery and retrieving lost high school credits due to addictions. Funds will be used to fund a year-round program and equip the learning center with technology, software chrome books and furniture needed to serve our student population. My driving purpose for developing a year-round intercession school program is that those who need the most help need to be their the longest. Our intersession program is designed to provide education and aftercare 9 weeks on; and 2 weeks off with only one month summer vacation. We wish to offer teens a community of like minded-learners where: 1) they can complete their education; and 2) make their recovery run smoothly and lasting; all in a one-stop venue. We need your help where students can feel relieved, welcomed, and where they can discover their true potential. Our goal is to open our doors May 1st 2019 and any support will be welcomed. We will provide with our EIN number for tax purposes. I can be contacted at 612 483-7676.
